To be our healthiest, our bodies & minds need stillness just as much as physical activity. We all know the benefits of stretching & strengthening, but often don't understand the importance of resting and relaxing, which is necessary for healing & re-energizing. This is why I encourage everyone to find a nice balance between both an active & a calming practice, such and Vinyasa Yoga and Restorative Yoga.
VINYASA YOGA-a practice involving stretching, strengthening, and mindful breathing, with smooth transitions between asanas (poses)...each posture building up to the next
RESTORATIVE YOGA-a practice of holding poses for longer periods of time, with the help of props for complete support. Along with receiving the benefit of stretching, the stillness allows the mind to slow down, and look inward for relaxation and healing
